Norwich City head coach Davit Wagner has reiterated his satisfaction with the signing of Hwang Eui-jo.

Norwich City and Stoke City will meet at Carrow Road in Norwich, England, on Saturday (Nov. 16) at 11 p.m. for the sixth round of the 2023-2024 English Championship. Norwich are in fifth place with three wins, one draw, and one loss, while Stoke are in 16th place with two wins and three losses.

After loan spells with Olympiacos and FC Seoul, Hwang Ui-jo returned to Nottingham Forest ahead of this season. He was often on the bench at the start of the season, but was unable to break into the English Premier League (EPL). On the final day of the transfer window, as Nottingham pushed to add more strikers, he decided to leave on loan once again. The destination was Norwich.

Norwich have an emergency up front. They’ve been playing with two strikers, but Josh Sargent, who was considered a key attacker, is out long-term with an ankle injury. With only Ashley Barnes and Adam Ayda as specialist strikers, the Canaries rushed to sign Hwang Ui-Jo before the transfer window closed. Upon completion of the deal, Wagner said: “I’m delighted to be able to bring Ui-jo to the team. With Sargent’s injury, we wanted to have a new attacking option, and I’m glad we found a solution.”

Speaking at the pre-match press conference against Stoke ahead of the resumption of the league, Wagner reiterated his delight and excitement at the signing. “We brought in Hwang because he’s a great fit. I saw him play for the Korean national team and he was sharp and aggressive. He’s an exciting player. We really wanted him to join our team, and we’re looking forward to watching him play. I’m looking forward to everything.” 토토사이트

There is a possibility that Hwang could come in straight away against Stoke. He’s been called up to the A squad, but has been a substitute in both games, and the games against Wales and Saudi Arabia were in England, so the schedule isn’t as grueling as it would be in South Korea. The team is also short on strikers.

If Hwang Ui-jo is available, this match could be a “Korean derby”. Bae Jun-ho, who helped South Korea reach the semifinals at the U20 World Cup Argentina 2023 in June, is now at Stoke. Bae also joined Stoke in the summer transfer window. He made his first appearance for the club two days after the transfer was officially announced, coming on as a substitute against Preston North End in the fifth round.
