Head coach De Jervi discusses his side’s progression to the Europa League.
Brighton & Hove Albion drew 1-1 with Manchester City in the 32nd round of the 2022-2023 English Premier League on May 25 (ET) at the Amex Stadium in Brighton, England.
After conceding an early goal to Phil Foden in the 25th minute, Brighton equalized through Julio Enciso in the 38th minute. The game, which featured a combined 33 shots from both sides, ended in a draw.
With a point, Brighton secured at least a sixth-place finish in the league and a spot in next season’s Europa League. 메이저사이트
After the game, Roberto De Zerbi told the BBC: “It was a fantastic goal. We have achieved a huge goal for the club, the players and the coaching staff. I’m very happy,” he said of qualifying for the Europa League.
Reflecting on the game, he added: “In my opinion, Man City are the best team in the world. It was a difficult game for us. We deserved a point and we deserved to be in the Europa League.”
Brighton is at risk of losing key players. Alexis McAllister and Moises Caicedo, two key players in the center of the midfield, are being courted by big clubs.
“I don’t know the future, I don’t know what the players think, I think they deserve to play at another level,” De Jervy said, “but we have to be ready to bring in more good players because we are going to the Europa League next year. The Premier League is going to be tougher and we are ready for it.”
